Knowledge, Action and Innovation = Impact

Prepare aims at creating new, more effective and sustainable policies and instruments that promote the adoption of impactful innovation, including innovation procurement, at regional level, but also relevant and scalable across Europe.

To this end, throughout 2024, Prepare will develop a deep understanding of the state of adoption in 4 regions of Europe, with different levels of maturity in innovation adoption. Then a Joint Action Plan and Individual Plans for each region will be elaborated to incrase growth and competitiveness.

Prepare key activities

Phase 1: knowledge acquisition

Until June 2024, Prepare partners will engage in an open dialogue with stakeholders (public authorities in charge of innovation policies) and innovation actors (members of the local ecosystem) in their respective regions.

Through interviews, surveys, focus groups and workshops, Prepare regions aim to produce a complete picture of the state of innovation adoption in all of them. Including: level of awareness, motivation, barriers and capacity building needed for future implementation, among others.

Phase 2: action

In the second half of the year, the Prepare Joint Programme will be developed. A strategic blueprint that explains why adoption of innovation is a policy that should be implemented at the regional level and provides guidance on what to do and how to do it.

The programme will take shape in 5 Action Plans: one for joint implementation and 4 specific to each region, taking into account their particular regional frameworks.

Improved policies and instruments; increased possibilities for impact

By the end of the project, expected results are:

  • To generate and disseminate technical knowledge, use cases and best practices, and leverage them to improve current procurement procedures, inspire and empower the ecosystem, among others.
  • To provide policy recommendations based on first-hand experience.
  • To develop a Joint Programme and Action Plans to serve as a model and reference for other regions.
  • To increase cost-effectiveness by leveraging synergies with existing funding.

>> For Ticbiomed, project coordinator, it is essential to keep in mind at all times that the ultimate goal of each initiative must be the adoption of innovation. To have an impact, we need to introduce mechanisms that favour adoption at all stages of the procurement process. This implies a change in policies, instruments and even mentality that we will try to trigger during the very specific momentum that will be built around the Prepare project.
